Toddler-friendly playgrounds & splash pads, South Dade to the Keys

For the days with nothing on the calendar. These are the parks worth the drive with a baby or toddler: shade, a little-kid area, a bathroom nearby. Hours and fees come from the park's own page. Anything marked "parents say" comes from other moms' reviews, so double-check before you count on it.

Coral Reef Park, Palmetto Bay

Daily, sunrise to sundown

7895 SW 152nd St, Palmetto Bay

Parents say it's split into three zones, including a space just for 6 to 23 months and a 2 to 5 area, all under a big shade cover, with a restroom close by. Best baby-specific setup we found. Heads up: a review from earlier this year mentioned construction and a long stroller walk from parking.

Splash pads in November: most South Florida splash pads run on a spring-to-fall schedule, and each park sets its own. The Helen Sands Pool splash pad at South Dade Park is the one we confirmed is open year-round. For any other, check the park's page or call before you go.
